چکیده
Introduction: Injuries to facial bones, orbits, and adjacent soft tissue structures are common. They usually caused by motor vehicle accidents. Scientific evidence has shown that maxillofacial trauma is related severe injuries, so a meticulous evaluation of the injuries should be performed because they can have devastating sequelae. The treatment these situations complex challenging, since in addition compromising esthetic aspect, it also compromises function multiple causes psychological damage. [Antibiotic prophylaxis in oral and maxillofacial surgery].
Antibiotic prophylaxis in oral and maxillofacial surgery aims the prevention of the infection of the surgical wound, either due to the characteristics of the surgery or the general state of the patient. This risk increases with the contamination of the surgical operation area, making it necessary to imply a prophylactic treatment of the infection in clean-contaminated and contaminated surgeries...

متن کاملAntibiotic Therapies in Maxillofacial Surgery in the Context of Prophylaxis
OBJECTIVES There is no single pattern for preventive action as to the duration and type of antibiotic therapy in maxillofacial surgery. In these circumstances, it appears reasonable to set relevant standards for prophylactic procedures after such surgeries. METHODS Retrospective analysis of bacteriological tests has been carried out as well as a susceptibility evaluation of cultured bacterial...

متن کاملComprehensive airway management of patients with maxillofacial trauma.
Airway management in patients with maxillofacial trauma is complicated by injuries to routes of intubation, and the surgeon is frequently asked to secure the airway. Airway obstruction from hemorrhage, tissue prolapse, or edema may require emergent intervention for which multiple intubation techniques exist. Competing needs for both airway and surgical access create intraoperative conflicts dur...
